Industry leaders, investors, and policymakers gathered at Peel Hunt for ‘2026 and Beyond: Boosting UK Life Sciences Investment’ which took place during a pivotal week for the UK life sciences industry. Just three days earlier, the UK-US pharmaceutical agreement ended an 18-month negotiation that had stifled investor confidence and paralysed industry progress. The breakfast event captured cautious optimism in response to the news, with 70% of attendees anticipating a slight increase, and 11% a significant increase in domestic capital investment in 2026, while 43% expecting a slight increase, and 23% a significant increase foreign investment growth. Government rhetoric remains strongly supportive, and stable foundations including the Life Sciences Sector Plan, regulatory reforms and emerging financing mechanisms are in place. The question is whether this marks a meaningful recovery or yet another temporary reprieve.
