We are currently looking for a bright, creative and energetic Senior Consultant to join our growing team at 5654.

Senior Consultant (corporate communications)

The role:

  • Acting as a day-to-day point of contact for clients and playing a key role in account teams, with a particular focus on media relations and corporate communications.

  • Writing of client-facing documents, including press releases, pitch notes, messaging, briefing documents, and owned channel communications collateral.

  • Contributing to the delivery of cross-channel strategy and ensuring standards of quality across all work.

  • Leading on media relations activity for clients.

  • Supporting across new business activity, from research through to proposal development.

  • Bringing new ideas and insight into the team, and to clients – stretching our broader thinking and capabilities.

  • Supporting on crisis communications, including media and social media monitoring.

We’re looking for candidates with:

  • Candidates with minimum 18 months experience in a communications role at a consultancy or relevant in-house role are preferred.

  • A keen interest in the media landscape and different media formats, news and current affairs, creative storytelling, digital campaigning and business.

  • Excellent writing skills, with a keen eye for detail.

  • A passion for a fast-paced and varied working environment, such as in a busy press office, in-house communications team or PR agency.

  • Some experience in agency or equivalent in-house role with experience of delivering high-quality communications work.

  • A good understanding of the media (at a national, regional, trade and specialist level) and how the landscape is changing.

  • A proactive approach to client accounts, anticipating upcoming moments and client needs, and bringing forward ideas and recommendations.

  • Ability to manage multiple clients and workstreams, prioritising effectively across different pieces of work.)

  • Help these clients, and our team, to develop and execute campaigns, with specific focus on corporate comms and media relations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing research support across accounts, demonstrating strong attention to detail

  • Providing media and political monitoring

  • Preparing agendas, booking meeting rooms, and supporting preparation for client meetings

  • Drafting client documents such as briefings, bios, letters, op-eds, blogs, press releases, and social media content

  • Supporting on delivering parliamentary events

  • Flagging relevant political and media updates to clients

  • Contributing to new business activity

  • Bonus: Discretionary bonus of up to 15% of salary if the company performs and you individually perform

  • Contract: Full-time

  • Wellbeing / TOIL Day: working 29 in 30 days for all employees - i.e. equivalent of one day additional leave per month.
